چکیده
Fig. 2. (A) Multi-slice computed tomography images showed extravasation of the contrast media into themediastinumwith surrounding hematoma, not only in the mediastinum but also into the left lung tissue. (B) Three dimensional volume-rendering images from the computed tomography scan clearly demonstrated leakage of the contrast media at the bifurcation of the ductus arteriosus and lesser curvature of the aortic arch. At operation, rupture of ductus arteriosus at the bifurcated point from aorta without any ductal aneurysm was seen. Biopsy specimens did not show any evidence of inflammation and/or infection.

EDITORIAL COMMENT Congenital Ductus Arteriosus Aneurysm*
Congenital ductus arteriosus aneurysm (DAA) is a saccular or fusiform dilation and elongation of the ductus arteriosus. By chest X-ray, it is recognized as a ductal bump (1). More recently, echocardiography has been the primary modality used to demonstrate the pathology (2,3). Although most commonly diagnosed within the first two months after birth (2), the pathology may also be diagnosed prena...

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is an open communication between the upper descending thoracic aorta and the proximal left pulmonary artery, which results from persistence of the fetal ductus arteriosus. It may be isolated or occur with other congenital cardiac anomalies. Aneurysms of the ductus arteriosus are rare lesions which may occur as a spontaneous. infantile fonn or occur in later c...

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics and outcome and to elucidate the pathogenesis of ductus arteriosus aneurysm (DAA). BACKGROUND Ductus arteriosus aneurysm is a rare lesion that can be associated with severe complications including thromboembolism, rupture and death. METHOD We reviewed the clinical records, diagnostic imaging studies and availa...
متن کاملPulmonary artery rupture in pregnancy complicating patent ductus arteriosus.
Fatal haemopericardium in a 27 year old pregnant woman was caused by rupture of a dissecting aneurysm of the pulmonary artery. She had an uncorrected patent ductus arteriosus and severe pulmonary hypertension. The wall of the pulmonary artery showed atherosclerosis and cystic medionecrosis.
متن کاملRupture of pulmonary artery aneurysm associated with persistent ductus arteriosus.
Fatal haemopericardium occurred in a 14-year-old boy after rupture of a pulmonary artery aneurysm. Persistent ductus arteriosus with severe pulmonary hypertension was confirmed by cardiac catheterisation when he was 4 weeks old. Attempted closure of the ductus at 4 years had not been possible because of apparent high pulmonary resistance. Exercise tolerance had been good enough to permit compet...
